How many will benefit from 8th CPC

How many will benefit: Official estimate of employees and pensioners cited in Parliament

An official estimate of how many people are likely to be covered by the 8th CPC is available in a Lok Sabha starred question reply.

In Lok Sabha Starred Question No. 235 answered on 17 March 2025, the Government stated:
– Approximate number of Central Government civilian employees: 36.57 lakh (as on 01.03.2025)
– Approximate number of pensioners or family pensioners: 33.91 lakh (as on 31.12.2024)
– Defence personnel and pensioners will also be benefitted

The reply also stated that financial implication will be known once recommendations are made and accepted.
