8th CPC online data portal announced for Ministries and Departments, with “no physical data” rule
The 8th CPC website also has a dedicated page for the online data portal, and this is a practical working update, not a headline-style announcement. A pay commission’s recommendations depend heavily on data: pay structures, allowances, expenditure patterns, staffing levels, recruitment profiles, and more. Without organised data, a commission cannot build realistic recommendations.
On the online data portal page, the Commission states that it has extensive data requirements and that links and formats for data are being shared with ministries, departments, organisations, and offices separately. This indicates that the Commission is preparing an internal workflow to collect standardised datasets from government bodies.
The page further says that submission of data is requested through the portal link. At the moment, the page also states that the link shall be shared soon. This means the portal is announced, but the submission link is not yet published publicly on that page.
A very important process rule is also written clearly. The Commission states that physical data, excel sheets in physical form, hard copies, emails, and similar methods shall not be considered or entertained. This is similar to the memorandum rule, and it shows a consistent approach: the Commission wants one controlled digital channel for submissions and data collection.
For a normal person, the main meaning is simple. The Commission is moving toward a digital process where data from ministries and organisations will be gathered in a structured and standardised manner. This is usually the stage where the Commission builds a base database before it begins serious evaluation and hearings.
This update also matters for credibility. When an official portal says “no physical data or emails,” it reduces chances of missing information, selective submissions, or confusion about what was officially received.
