8th CPC timeline: Report due within 18 months, interim reports possible
One of the most important official points in the Gazette Resolution is the timeline. The Resolution states that the Commission will make its recommendations within 18 months of the date of its constitution. The Commission may also consider sending interim reports when recommendations on specific matters are finalised.
Confirmed timeline (as per official Resolution)
– Constitution date in the Gazette Resolution: 03.11.2025
– Time allowed for recommendations: 18 months from constitution
If you calculate 18 months from 03 November 2025, the due point lands around early May 2027 (03 May 2027 if counted month-to-month). This is not a promise of implementation by that date. It is the target for the Commission to submit recommendations.
Interim reports: what they can change
Interim reports matter because they can allow the Government to take decisions on certain issues earlier, even while other parts of the work continue. However, interim reports are optional, not mandatory. The Resolution only states the Commission “may” consider them if necessary.
Why the 18-month window is important for a news website
This single clause allows you to build a clear tracker format on your site:
1) Constitution date confirmed
2) 18-month deadline window confirmed
3) Interim report possibility confirmed
4) Implementation depends on acceptance, budget planning, and executive decisions (not automatic)
