The Indian Navy has released the notification for Short Service Commission Officers for various entries — Jun 2027 course. This is an important opportunity for eligible unmarried men and women who want to join the Navy as officers through different Executive, Education and Technical branches.
As per the notification, online applications started on 25 June 2026 and the last date to apply is 27 July 2026. The course will commence from June 2027 onwards at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala.
Who can apply?
The notification is open for unmarried male and unmarried female candidates who meet the required nationality, age, education and medical standards. Candidates who have completed their degree or are in the final year can apply, but they must fulfil the required educational qualification before joining INA Ezhimala in June 2027.
Candidates with Indian degrees from recognised universities and institutions can apply. Those with foreign degrees may also apply, but they need to submit an equivalence certificate from UGC as per the branch requirement.

Educational qualification
For most entries, candidates need BE/B.Tech with minimum 60% marks in the required discipline. Some branches also accept qualifications like MBA, MCA, MSc, MA, M.Tech or PG Diploma depending on the cadre.
For entries such as Pilot, Observer, NAIC and Education, candidates must also meet additional Class 10 and Class 12 marks conditions, including minimum marks in English as mentioned in the notification.
This is why candidates should not apply only by looking at the vacancy number. They must check the exact branch-wise education stream, age limit and additional conditions before submitting the form.
Age limit
The age limit is different for each entry. For many branches, the birth-date range is around 02 July 2002 to 01 January 2008, while Pilot, Observer, ATC and Education entries have separate age windows.

Selection process
The Indian Navy SSC officer selection process will mainly follow this route:

For BE/B.Tech candidates, marks up to the fifth semester will be considered for SSB shortlisting if they are in the final year. For postgraduate candidates, completed-course marks or pre-final year performance will be considered depending on the status of the degree.
NCC certificate benefit
NCC ‘C’ certificate holders may get 5% relaxation in cut-off marks for SSB shortlisting, subject to conditions. The candidate must have an NCC ‘C’ certificate from Naval, Army or Air Wing with minimum B grade, should have served at least two academic years in the Senior Division, and the certificate should not be dated before 01 July 2024.
However, this benefit is subject to official verification. If any false declaration or misinformation is found, the candidature can be cancelled at any stage.
Medical and training conditions
Candidates applying for Pilot, NAOO and other specialised entries should check medical standards carefully before selecting their preference. SSB-recommended candidates will undergo medical examination as applicable to their entry. Change of medical hospital or centre is not allowed.
Selected candidates will be inducted as Sub Lieutenant after clearing the required induction medical examination at INA Ezhimala. Only unmarried candidates are eligible for training. If a candidate is found married or gets married during training, they can be discharged and may be required to refund pay, allowances and training expenditure.
Tenure, salary and allowances
Selected candidates will be granted Short Service Commission initially for 12 years, extendable by a maximum of 2 years, depending on service requirement, performance, medical eligibility and willingness of the candidate.
The notification mentions that the initial gross salary of a Sub Lieutenant starts from approximately ₹1,20,000 per month, along with other applicable allowances. Pilot/NAOO and Submarine allowance of ₹31,250 will be admissible after successful completion of the relevant training.
